Frequently Asked Questions
Everything about membership, billing, and how the site works.
Membership & Billing
How does the free trial work?▼
New members get a 7-day free trial with full access to every tracker. A valid payment method is required to start the trial, but you won't be charged unless you're still a member when the trial ends.
What happens after my trial ends?▼
Your card is automatically charged for your first billing cycle at your plan's rate ($100/month Standard, or $69/month if you locked in a Founding Member spot), and your membership continues normally from there.
What's the difference between Standard and Founding pricing?▼
Both tiers get identical full access to every tracker and feature — the only difference is the rate. Founding Member pricing ($69/month) is limited to our first 25 members and is locked in for life. Once those spots are filled, new members join at the Standard rate ($100/month).
How do I cancel my membership?▼
Use the "Manage Subscription" button on your
account page — it opens a secure Stripe portal where you can cancel anytime. Cancelling stops future billing, but you keep access through the end of your current paid period.
Will I be refunded if I cancel?▼
Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable once a billing cycle has been charged. Cancelling simply stops any future charges.
If I cancel, can I come back later at the Founding rate?▼
Founding Member pricing is tied to being one of our first 25 members. If you cancel, that spot may open up for someone else — rejoining later would generally be at the current Standard rate. If you're considering pausing rather than fully cancelling, reach out to us first.
Using the Site
What does "Win-Place" or "Win-Place-Show" mean on a tracker?▼
These are combo bets covering multiple finish positions with one wager. A "Win-Place" bet cashes if the horse finishes 1st or 2nd. A "Win-Place-Show" bet cashes if the horse finishes 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Each tracker shows the total wagered and the per-leg breakdown (e.g., "$50 each") so you can see exactly how the number was built.
What is "Why This Pick"?▼
On picks where our reasoning was noted, you'll see a small "Why this pick" link under the horse's name. Clicking it reveals the specific factors behind that selection — and if a named handicapper made the pick, their profile and specialty as well.
Where do I find today's post times?▼
The
Upcoming Races page shows a live countdown to each track's next race, automatically adjusted to your local timezone regardless of where the track itself is located.
What is the Handicapper Showdown?▼
A live, ranked leaderboard showing each of our named handicappers' real win rate and ROI, updated automatically as results come in. You can see it on the
Handicapper Showdown page.
How is your Track Record calculated?▼
The
Track Record page reflects every settled pick we've tracked — wins and losses alike — pulled live from the same data shown on the individual track pages. Nothing is excluded to make the numbers look better.
Wagering
Do you accept bets or place wagers for me?▼
No. Backstretchcapper provides handicapping selections and results tracking only — we're not a wagering platform, bookmaker, or licensed gambling operator. Any bets you place are made through a licensed third-party platform of your own choosing.
Where do I actually place a bet?▼
Our
Where to Bet page lists licensed wagering platforms. Availability varies by state — confirm a platform is licensed in your jurisdiction before creating an account.
Do I need to be a certain age to use this site?▼
You must be at least 18 (21 in some states) to create an account, and separately old enough to legally wager in your jurisdiction if you choose to do so.
Referrals
How does the referral program work?▼
Every member gets a unique referral link, found on your account page. When someone joins using your link and their membership goes active, we credit your account and reach out about the reward.
What do I get for referring someone?▼
Referral rewards are granted at our discretion once a referral converts to a paying membership. Reach out to us directly with any questions about your specific referral credits.
